  2. 2.  For more than 25 years, Bright Lights USA has equipped US manufacturers with the mechanical and electro-mechanical components needed for operations. Under the presidency of Daniel Farber, Bright Lights USA has supported the Police Athletic League (PAL). PAL has a goal to bring the New York Police Department closer to the neighborhoods and communities it serves. PAL does this through its network of statewide Teen Centers, where police officers work together with teens, serving as mentors and role models.
  3. 3.  The Teen Centers are open to teens aged 13 to 19 for three to five nights a week from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Registration is free. In these centers, police officers socialize with youth over games, structured intramural leagues, open-gyms, and dance. In the course of interaction, the officers share valuable lessons on drug prevention and early pregnancy prevention. In addition, some of the centers offer academic programs such as book clubs, individual tutoring, and SAT prep. Recognizing the importance of cultivating work ethic, teen centers also offer workshops where youth learn essential life skills such as job readiness and financial literacy.
