A website is one piece of a Strategic Marketing Program
A blog is something you use in the top of the sales funnel (TOFU) to create awareness around the products and / or services the company provides. You do not promote products or services, you just create awareness around the problems your persona has. The other main goal of a blog is to generate traffic from organic search or social media.
The end goal of the TOFU part is to move a visitor towards a landing page or an opt-in so you can make them a lead. You could also build your retargeting list in Facebook or Google so you can remarket to them. I.e. you want to own the traffic that comes to your page. A newsletter is a part of the middle of the sales funnels (MOFU). You already have created awareness around the brand, products, and services. This is the part where we generate leads and nurture them into buyers. The KPIs here are different. You must look at leads generated, conversion rate, engagement on email opens etc. The end goal is to sort out who is the sales qualified leads, and which are not (usually about 25%). A WordPress plugin called SumoMe promises a FREE version that will help you build your list all with the click of a button. Is it true or do they just want you to upgrade? Below is a review of the FREE version of a WordPress Plugin called SumoMe. WHAT IS SumoMe SumoMe is a WordPress plugin that offers a plethora of tools to help you grow your email list. There are 100’s of ways to ask your website visitors for their email address in return for your irresistible offer. Examples include, pop ups on the top of the page, the side of the page, pop-ups that slide in, pop-ups that wave at you etc. Once SumoMe is installed you will be able to test all of these different options and see which one works best for growing your list. HOW DOES IT WORK? Like everything in the WordPress world, it’s simple. You install SumoMe through your Plugin’s menu in your WordPress Dashboard and start playing around with all of the options that the SumoMe plugin will give you. Having a pop-up display at the top vs. the side or both is as simple as clicking an “activate” link.
With the SumoMe browser extension it's even easier to login and to access all your SumoMe apps.

After downloading & installing the plugin, you’ll have to sign into your SumoMe account from your dashboard. You can click on the “crown” that will live on the top right of your dashboard to view the different modules you have signed up for.
With the free version, it will always prompt you to sign up for the pro version or upgrade to paid versions.
