  7. 7. News Headlines • Reinfections: Still very rare! – American man – 25 yo reinfected; more severe illness – Dutch woman dies after catching COVID-19 twice, the first reported reinfection death • 89, undergoing chemo. Confirmed as different strain

  13. 13. Community Stakeholder Collaborations • Regional COVID Task Forces with key community stakeholders • Governor’s office-coordinated weekly meetings with FQHCs and health departments 14
  14. 14. COVID-19 Testing Background • 10 testing locations and 3 mobile teams • To date: – 62,779 COVID-19 tests performed – 51,821 individuals reached – Of those, 35,906 (69%) are not CHCI patients

Building Community Partnerships • Cross-denominational work with faith-based organizations – Reaching vulnerable populations – Communicating, educating, and correcting misinformation through “trusted messengers” • Teamwork to offer multiple services at local events – Food distribution by school departments – PPE handed out by police officers – Testing by CHCI – Voter registration and CENSUS support 16

Building Community Partnerships • Reaching the elderly through regular testing at congregate living centers • Addressing needs of the community through systems- wide collaboration – Handed out masks and magnets – Conducted SDOH surveys on who needed food access, rent support, and devices for children’s distance learning 17
  17. 17. Long-term Implications and Opportunities • Demonstrated the power of collaboration and reaching people where they are – Greater collaboration with faith-based and community-based organizations • Highlighted FQHCs role in the community • Pivoting to address vaccine concerns 18
