Welcome
Inclusion is more than just residing in a community: it is the full involvement, participation, equality of rights and celebration of diversity of all people in everyday life. Inclusion starts with you!
[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],However, for the almost 1 million Canadians with an intellectual disability, these simple things we take for granted are not a reality. Although capable of learning in regular schools, working at real jobs, and contributing to our communities, they are often excluded simply because of a label.
CACL is dedicated to ensuring full participation in community life, ending exclusion and discrimination on the basis of intellectual disability, promoting respect for diversity and advancing human rights for all Canadians. CACL holds the vision of an inclusive and diverse Canada in which everyone, including people with intellectual disabilities and their families, participate fully in all aspects of society.
The community living movement began in the early 1950’s by groups of families who wanted alternatives to institutions for their children…

We as a society, continue to allow the systemic discrimination and exclusion of people with intellectual disabilities from full participation in all aspects of everyday life.
Today, families and governments are unable to fulfill these requirements of basic citizenship. Families and CACL need you to help us build inclusive communities.
In 2010, CACL adopted the Agenda for Change which identified 10 core objectives that will make the difference in achieving our vision for a fully inclusive Canada: ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Providing funding to CACL, the CACL Foundation is a cornerstone on which truly diverse and inclusive communities are built! With a national reach and a neighbourhood impact, the CACL Foundation empowers Canadian’s to build communities that include everyone.
… a movement to create communities in which everyone—of every race, religion, gender and ability—belongs, is supported and valued for their contributions. As a donor to the CACL Foundation , you are at the forefront of the community living movement…
Providing funding to CACL, the CACL Foundation is a cornerstone on which truly diverse and inclusive communities are built! With a national reach and a neighbourhood impact, the CACL Foundation empowers Canadian’s to build communities that include everyone.
With your support, the CACL Foundation raises the critical funds to challenge preconceptions and increase awareness— directly impacting the everyday lives of people across Canada and around the world.
CACL’s unique strategy is to inspire, focus and direct a groundswell of community support for inclusion… … so one donation creates knowledge that reaches hundreds of communities, thousands of families, millions of Canadians.
Tomorrow, with your help, we will build a better future for all Canadians by ensuring that our communities have the capacity – the supports, the knowledge, the consideration and the understanding – to include us all, regardless of labels. Your generosity makes a difference.
We are individuals and families… … working in our communities to inspire local action.
We are the supporters, donors, advocates, and agents of change… … that make the CACL vision possible.
We are the champions, the cheerleaders, and the people in your neighbourhood… … who provide the resources, energy and passion for inclusion.
Together, we are creating communities where everyone belongs and lives an everyday life.
Join the CACL Foundation today and become a champion for inclusion in your own community.
Please Give Generously… ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Thank You
