ABOUT THE EDGE
Greater China-focused educational services provider
Founded in 2008 to bring full range of educational services under
one roof to better serve the needs of students, families, schools and
companies
Our holistic approach is founded on the principle that education
shouldn't teach us what to think, but how to think
Our four departments - Academic Tutoring, Test Preparation,
Admissions Consulting, and Educational Training - provide a range of
services from private tutoring to teacher training
Serving thousands of students and families, top tier local and
international schools, and Fortune 500 companies across the region
"Really impressive! I learned
how to be successful in life
and broadened my horizons"
Ricky, Student, Hong Kong
WHY INVEST IN EDUCATION?
Demonstrated Need
• More than 40% of employers were unable to fill all openings in 2011
due to a lack of soft skills like communication, leadership, teamwork,
and lack of these skills is the cause of nearly 90% of new hire failures
• Boosting soft skills and academic performance is directly linked to
improved and sustained economic growth in communities and countries
Opportunity for Impact
• Students who have strong soft skills and work habits complete higher levels
of education and make more money than classmates without them
• Programs that enhance soft skills improve both educational attainment
and life outcomes
Powerful Outcomes
• Employees: Strong community investment programs boost
employee engagement, improve morale by 55%, and increase loyalty by 38%
• Performance: Engaged employees yield increased operational efficiency,
3x higher operating margins, and 4x the earnings per share of unengaged staffs
• Brand: Brands associated with active CSR programs attract better talent and have
43% stronger reputations in the marketplace
"The feedback from the teenagers and their
parents and teachers was very positive...there
was a visible change in the teenagers after the
programme, whether it was in how they took
more responsibility for their learning, in being
more confident in communicating, or speaking
in public. I was also very impressed with how
the programme was successfully planned and
executed, with good follow-up afterwards, to
ensure that the learning and engagement with
the teens were sustained."

Corporate Affairs, Standard Chartered Bank (HK)

schools and companies around the
world to make a tangible and
lasting impact on students'

universities and employers demand:
Leadership
Self-esteem

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS
HIT Teacher Training – Hook, Immerse, Transfer
In use for nearly 20 years and in over 30 countries, the HIT Teaching
Program strives to:
Minimize theory and maximize application
Our trainings cut straight through the theory to provide teachers with
tactical tools ready for immediate use in the classroom.
Make learning fun
Learning happens faster and lasts longer when it’s more enjoyable.
Stay current
When change is constant, learning is the ultimate skill. We need to stay
adaptable.
Work with the brain
Brain-based research has accelerated massively; we must use this
information to shift teachers’ practice.
Simplify
Remove unnecessary complexity to give teachers tools they can use
quickly and easily.
"I have rediscovered teaching. I can't
wait to get back into the classroom and
try these things."
Lisa, 14th year in teaching
"Simple...powerful...difference-making
strategies for educators"
Thomas, 5th year in teaching
Our Methodologies
Experiential Learning
Learning requires energy; we teach ways to inject energy into the classroom in
ways which enroll students, promote participation, and encourage students to
steer their own learning outcomes.
Social and Emotional Learning
Our holistic approach to working with social skills and emotional development
improves students' ability to perform both in and out of the classroom.
Work Process
We promote these proven processes that enable learning to be far more
immersive, self-guided, and collaborative.
Accelerated Learning
Make learning more efficient by leveraging developments in brain research and
theories like the learning styles in ways easy to integrate into the classroom.
Positive Psychology
Students who enjoy their learning experiences will be more successful, so we
teach strategies to create immersive experiences that make learning more fun
for students.
“Realizing that I can change
something makes me feel
proud of myself, especially
if it helps my peers and I.”

POWERED BY SEEDS TRAINING
World’s #1 Provider of
Youth Training Programs since 1993
Active in more than a dozen countries
Over 1 million students a year
in Seeds programs
Over 1300 schools using
Seeds-designed curriculum
Over 45,000 teachers

OUR WORK
Wharf Limited, Hong Kong
The Edge is supporting Wharf's Project WeCan, a pioneering school improvement
program funding 10 schools and benefitting more than 10,000 underprivileged
students across Hong Kong, with leadership development programs for students to
help them build crucial leadership, life, and learning skills.
Smart 360 Program, Indonesia
The government of Indonesia has a long-term plan to integrate technology into
their classrooms nationwide. We partnered with a leading computer company to
build a program that leverages our training expertise and their technological
resources to serve the nearly 30,000 head teachers across the country and teach
them how to use basic classroom technology.
Torrance Unified Schools, California
Torrance, California is the largest school district in the US and faces tremendous
challenges from class size, teacher turnover and ESL integration. We created
teacher training and student leadership programs that helped to boost college
matriculation rates by 24%, teacher job satisfaction by 71%, and student
attendance by 86%.
“[These programs] gave us the simplest and most effective way to make a difference in
our community. We didn’t have to spend months planning, weeks preparing our staff,
days meeting with community partners…it was all handled. It was seamless, efficient,
and the quality of the end program was outstanding. I feel like a hero!”
Christopher, Sponsor, Kodak
“There are three reasons to utilize [these
programs] as part of your company’s
community outreach: They make you look
really good; the programs are far and away
the best that you’ll find; the programs make
an immediate impact in both the internal
and external community. It’s a great, turn-
key solution for those of us that want to
make an impact on the community and
build our brand.”
Armando, Sponsor, Shell
“The results are obvious!”
Agnes, Sponsor, Wharf
“Everybody wins. The kids loved it,
our staff wants to do it again.”
