HALO: THE CONCEPT
Hydromorphically
mobilized elements,
reflecting any sub-
cropping orebody, are
emplaced as ultra-fine
(picometre width) growth
zones on soil grains.
HALO targets and
extracts elements from
only these layers and
therefore provides data
that represents only
recent anomaly
imposition.
The ability to limit
”background” analytes
from the core grain is
critical in achieving high
definition anomaly
identification.

HALO: THE OUTPUT
Near-surface ore bodies are now few
and far between.
Next generation exploration - targets
will be below 50metres.
Conventional geochemical
approaches cannot be relied upon
to identify the low level anomalies
that result from sub-cropping buried
and blind ore bodies.
HALO targets only the superimposed
hydromorphic anomaly therefore
background “contamination” is
reduced to a minimum and the
background to anomaly ratio is
significantly enhanced.

• Over 60% of Australia is covered by overburden to an extent that makes
it geochemically sterile to conventional exploration.
• Many of these areas are desert exhibiting no conventional geochemistry
representing sub-cropping bedrock.
• Most, if not all, of the ore bodies with surface or near surface expression
have been discovered.
• If we are to progress to exploration initiatives for the next generation of
ore bodies then there needs to be a significant shift in our exploration
protocols and development of new exploration technologies.

HALO is performed on a dried soil sample with screened
particles between 50 and 80 BSS Mesh in diameter (180
– 300 μm diameter)
A sample mass of less than 1 gram is used
60+ analyte elements are determined
This analyte spectrum enables identification of the
following mineralization types in a single analytical run:
Ø Gold and PGM’s
Ø Base Metals (e.g.
Cu:Pb:Zn)
Ø Nickel and Chromium
Ø Pegmatites (Li, Be, B,
REE’s etc)
Ø Kimberlite pipes
