We’ve been keeping an eye on the number of job ads on LinkedIn in 18 European countries since Week 13 of 2020 – extended to 36, and ultimately 38 countries since Week 15 and 17 respectively. We analyze the collected figures and observe if and what kind of trends there are, to leverage them into better career management & more effective job search methods.
In Week 39, we extended our observations even further, to gain an insight into the global job market. This is the first report on our new findings, and this time we’re taking you to Africa. In this report we analyze Weeks 37 to 48 of 2020.
Our special reports are released “live” to our subscribers and then published for the public with a delay of 4-6 weeks. If you would like to become a subscriber and regularly receive our special reports, email us at Bichl.Sandra@CareerAngels.eu. Subject: Special Reports.

4. In comparison to the European job market, Africa has experienced less
drastic changes. Until Week 40, the number of job ads published on
LinkedIn was noting a very gentle upwards trend. In Week 43, both
markets observed a more noticeable downward spike, which continued
in Europe, while Africa’s numbers were rising. Week 47 noted a drastic
decrease in both regions.
Africa

increasing and decreasing every few weeks. The biggest spikes

upwards trend again.

published job ads in Ethiopia grew by an impressive 315% in Week 42.
It stayed high for another week, but then in Week 44 it fell back to its
regular level. Since then, the numbers have been rising again, although
not as drastically.
Ethiopia
10. Ghana’s numbers have been very stable, remaining almost unchanged
up until Week 43. Then, in Week 44, the country observed a steep
decrease of -28.6%. A week afterwards, however, the numbers rose by
62.2% and have remained at a similarly high level since.
Ghana
