Getting Your Move On: A Geek's Quest to Move Right

1. this is my presentation no rehearsal cause it got corrupted and I spent my practice time recreating it
2. that’s me when i’m 4 there’s my basic info
4. carl @ play = climbing, running, creating wonderful imaginative games
5. we all did field day (i think) sprinting, sack races, three legged races, etc.
6. me breaking things - 7 years of my life i got my red belt with a black stripe before I was 13... then dropped out
7. played sports - baseball, basketball
8. high school i became apathetic exercise consisted of hacky sack
9. tried cross country
10. only physical activity i despise is long distance running
11. joined lighting tech didn’t care so much about the play but more about climbing around in ceilings
12. college found lindy hop and swing dance rediscovered passion for something in life
13. picked up some boogaloo and funk styles (popping, waving, etc.)
14. uvm rock climbing started correcting my posture
15. took modern dance classes
16. joined a capoeira group for 3 years included savate, lacanne, escrima, knife fighting, machete fighting
17. yoga practice
18. started doing pilates as well not yoga, has machines which sort of look like torture devices great for rehabilitation
19. got a pair of tap shoes more rhythm in my life
20. and here i’m turned upside down started doing body weight exercises, gymnastics, crossfit got a pair of gymnastic rings
21. recently have picked up parkour and free running to realize my ability to see the world in paths and then travel them

42. but this is really what we’re about as humans
44. learn, express, strength, confidence, longevity, sex, creativity, sleep, balance, body awareness, social, fun, release, energy
45. yay drugs - that we provide our own bodies when we move
56. geeks can move
57. this actually exists
58. they have a bar an adult jungle gym/playground
59. make up games step outside of our normal everyday boxes
60. and we can do seriously exceptional feats of human performance
