4. Hi everyone!
I’m Carmen Chan,
A passionate human being
dedicated to give love, hoping to
Build impactful designs one day.
In this course, I’ve realised that there’s no
such thing as slacking behind. Only
perseverance and the burning desire to
learn exist. If you see someone who’s
struggling to keep up, why don’t you lend a
helping hand? Fnbe taught me that.
You stay together as a team.

5. Throwback #1
Designing public spaces
This was my
favourtie project in
semester 1 so far.
Where we get to play
tourist for a month,
creating valuable
adventures, and
most importantly,
getting to know
our city from a
budding place
maker’s point of
view. Here, we also
got our first taste
in making models &
doing site analysis.
6. One of the toughest projects we had in semester 1. In
order to get the entire machine To work, we need to
ensure each contraption relates to one another, like an
endless Chain reaction. But the fun part was that our
machine could narrate a story – a special episode of
what’s happening in our very own mike’s favourite pizza
factory…

7. STUDY BOOKLET TO
UNDERSTAND DESIGN
FROM THE STUDY, THE FINAL
COMPONENT OF THIS PROJECT
WAS TO CREATE PATTERNS
BASED ON WHAT WE LEARNED.
HERE, WE LEARNED TO PUT
SHAPES TOGETHER, CHOOSE THE
RIGHT COLOUR AND MAKE THE
RIGHT COMPOSITION.
8. Facade
Artwork

meghan trainor
Do you find it weird that your
client is a song (literally)? And
do you find it even weirder that
you have to design a façade based
on that particular song?
This project is all about pattern
making, to manipulate shapes,
while at the same time reflecting
on the beat and rhythm of that
sexy thing standing in the mirror.
10. Cube
Manipulation
//client: me too meghan trainor
CREATIVITY IS
MORE THAN JUST
THINKING OUTSIDE
THE BOX. IN
DESIGN, YOU NEED
TO THINK INSIDE
THE BOX AS WELL!
MANIPULATING
THE FORM AND
SPACES WITHIN
THE BOX IS THE
BASIC STEP TO
MAKING GREAT
ARCHITECTURE.
11. Emerge
From
The cocoon
Continuing with the Meghan
Trainor Episode,
We explored her lyrics and
found out that most of the
words speak confidence,
that they talk about
coming out of your
insecurities and embracing
yourself.
We focus our concept on
that and come out with
collums protruding from
an exterior net frame.
13. THIS PROJECT WAS TO DESIGN A TOY DISPLAY (IN THE
FORM OF A CUBE) WHICH REFLECTS AND HOUSES MY
FELLOW CLIENT – WONDER WOMAN.
IN ORDER TO MAKE THE PERFECT DESIGN, ONE HAS TO
UNDERSTAND THE CLIENT ITSELF. SO HERE I WAS BACK
THEN, WATCHING COUNTLESS EPISODES & READING UP
ON THE STORY BEHIND THE CREATION OF OUR
FAVOURITE HEROIN.
The cube focuses on
wonder woman’s strength,
coming out of impossible
obstacles, with
her mentality.

15. THE
IMPORTANCE
OF MOCKUPS
TO ME, MOCKUPS ARE REALLY
USEFUL WHEN IT COMES TO DESIGN.
IT HELPS TEST TO SEE IF YOUR
MODEL WORKS, AND ALSO IT IS
MUCH EASIER WHEN IT COMES TO
EXPLAINING YOUR PROCESS. YOUR
CRITIC WILL UNDERSTAND YOUR
PROJECT EASILY.
16. OVER
COME
This project (individual ahem)
really tested my ability in model
& presentation board making.
Nevertheless, I also learnt that
presentation boards and models
need to speak at the same
emphasis, both are important.
Models require good
workmanship & obvious visuals so
that people can understand your
design. Whereas for your
presentation boards, one has to
highlight the right line weight
and the right features to be
displayed, enhancing the
readability of the viewer.
