I had the special privilege of welcoming The International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) Programme Manager Cachon Emerson and Irina Urumova International Child Protection Expert and Co-Author of the IIJ Juvenile Justice Note for Investigators (https://rb.gy/iha3ml) for a discussion on Investigation and Prosecution of Children in a Counter-Terrorism Context. The alleged involvement of children in terrorism and related activities brings into consideration fundamental questions in relation to the legal frameworks, procedures and authorities that these children should be subjected to and calls for appropriate and coordinated responses. Most grateful for the cooperation of such high caliber professionals, for the invaluable contribution of Jamie Brown and continued support of the Counter-Terrorism Division of the Council of Europe. Looking forward to to continue working towards achieving our shared goal of enabling appropriate justice responses to children affected by terrorism.
