1. Album Advert Deconstruction 3
The lack of writing makes the advert stand out and tells the readers what they need to
know, and Katy’s signature branding name in bold bubble writing stands out making the advert
more specialised. Branding is shown though this advertisement as her signature candy pink title
is stated at the top of the advert, this is also seen on her album, and her leading music video
‘California Girls’ this video was campaign for her album for her second album. Interestingly this
advert was advertising her first album ‘One of the Boys’ yet she has still kept the logo with
it, this makes her branding stand out for her fans, and makes her more noticeable in the media
world.
Album advert is identical to
the back cover of the
album.
This album advert runs through
the theme of the Album cover, by
using one of the images that is
from the same photo shoot as the
album back cover, it helps the
advert stand out. The picture
displays Katy Perry stood slightly
of centre in what appears to be a
garden, her personality has been
show through this picture as it is
fun, lively and different from other
adverts I have seen for pop artist.
You can see Katy Perry’s
personality coming through with
this album advert.
The Pop genre of this album is shown through this
advert as ‘I Kissed a Girl’ was stated as a number
one ‘smash hit’. Also, Katy’s outfit would be appealing
to the male audience as it is very short and
attractive, this broadens her audience.
The title of
her album
‘One of the
Boys’ would
somehow
contradict
itself with
the image of
the album
cover and
the
advertiseme
nt as it
would be
seen as a
very girly
image and
not showing
the artist to
be a ‘tom
boy’.
