Follow step by step procedure of SSL certificate installation on FileZilla server including generating private key and Code Signing Request (CSR) file.
2. Create a CSR File on FileZilla Server
FileZilla Client is a cross platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) client, it supports
IPv6 and it is available in many languages. To enable secure communication over FileZilla server, you
need to install SSL certificate. Before installing SSL, you need to create the CSR (certificate signing
request).
Process of generating CSR on FileZilla server using OpenSSL command:
Type the following command at the prompt to generate the Private Key and CSR file.
Here, 2048-bit RSA key is used that should be saved as domain.key on the server.
Use SSH Terminal to log in to FileZilla server.
Replace the default server name with your actual server name by applying following command:

3. At time of generating private key file and CSR file, you will require following information:
• Common Name: [A URL means FQDN that you want to secure.]
• Organization: [The legal name of your organization]
• Organization Unit: [The name of department of your organization]
• City/Location: [The city in which organization is located]
• State/Province: [The state in which organization is located]
• Country: [Country location of your organization]
After generating CSR file, open text editor; copy the content including BEGIN and END tags. You will
be prompt to paste the content into SSL certificate purchase.
Finally, save the generated .Key file that will be used in SSL certificate installation.
Note: Use asterisk at beginning of your common name (*.example.com) if you are generating
Certificate Signing Request (CRT) file for Wildcard SSL Certificate on FileZilla server.

4. Both Private key and CSR files will be used in installation of SSL on FileZilla Server.
Follow below process for SSL certificate installation on FileZilla server:
After placing an order for SSL certificate, you will receive zip file including three certificates:
Primary certificate, Intermediate certificate and Root certificate
1. Extract all these certificates and save on the server.
2. Open FileZilla server and go to FileZilla server Options.
3. Here, click on Edit > settings
4. On the left side of the FileZilla Server Options screen, select the SSL/TLS settings option.
5. You will have details of SSL configuration on the right side of the screen. Here, check on Enable FTP
over SSL/TLS support (FTPS).

There will be three options to enable SSL/TLS support:
➔ Private Key file box: click on browse button to find private key file that you have created previously
for example, C:Program FilesFileZilla Serveryourdomainname.crt
➔ Certificate File Box: click on browse button to find the location of a certificate file, this file includes
intermediate and primary certificate. for example, C:Program FilesFileZilla Servercertificatefile.crt
➔ Key Password box: At last, enter the password that will be saved in text format.
After finishing the process, click on OK button.
Finally, Restart the FileZilla server.
7. Test SSL Certificate Installation
Finally, your installation of SSL certificate is complete and your browser will verifies it as legitimate
certificate.
Access your site using by specifying the https:// instead of the http:// protocol.
If certificate installed successfully, your browser may doesn’t show warnings including (the "https"
crossed out in the address bar or a broken or crossed out "lock" icon)
If you click on the lock icon, you can see some more information about the SSL connection.
It is advisable to check website using SSL checker tool such as https://sslanalyzer.comodoca.com/
