2. Global issues, local impact
 In looking at the UN Millennium Development Goals, it is easy to spot a
correlation between many of the issues. The lack of development has effects
reaching into health, education, and many other areas.
 While we see this a s a global issue most often, it has effects in out own
communities as well.
 As a person who grew up struggling under a system was not always equitable, my
goal is to open doors for those who are still finding themselves in this spot.

3. Connecting the dots….
 An issue that many communities face is not simply one of hunger, or education, or
childcare. It is a perfect story of many issues related to a lack of development in
their communities.
 Particularly in markets like the northwest, housing security is a risk many people
live with day to day. The stress of this rears its head in health and wellness,
education, and ability of families to stay connected while increasing work to fund
their survival.
 Without development and economics stability this creates transient communities,
people forced to often move to communities they can afford while increasing their
expenditures on things like gas and further limiting their time spent with family.

4. How can we change things?
 By making the decision to work with those who provide support for the initiatives
and communities you live in you strengthen the community as a whole.
 Use your vote as your leverage on the system. Large economic entities in our
communities have powerful voices through their financial resources. Ours are
through our support.
 Align yourself with communities that represent your common interests.
 Using social media as a way to connect with others through engagement and
activism can take many forms. Find those communities and help them spread their
messages and concerns.
