(VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast and Methodology Update, covering growth
and trends over the next five years.
This is your opportunity to learn about Cisco's projections for global mobile data traffic
increases, key influences on mobile traffic, and major transitions in wireless
technology. The Cisco VNI Mobile Forecast is part of the company’s comprehensive
and ongoing initiative to analyze mobile IP growth and innovations worldwide.
Join Doug Webster, vice president, Service Provider Marketing, and Dr. Robert Pepper,
vice president of Global Technology Policy, as they present the major findings and
discuss the implications of this year’s forecast.
Cisco estimates there will be nearly 5 billion global mobile users in 2018, up from more
than 4 billion in 2013.
Other highlights from the updated study include the following projections:
By 2018, there will be more than 10 billion mobile-ready devices and connections
globally, about 3 billion more than there were in 2013.
The average mobile connection speed will nearly double, from 1.4 Mbps in 2013 to 2.5
Mbps by 2018.
By 2018, global mobile IP traffic will reach an annual run rate of 190 exabytes, up from
less than 18 exabytes in 2013.
