Holiday Cottages Manager â Newton Meadows Cottages, Shrewsbury 2007 â 2015
Overall responsibility for managing and operating 3 holiday cottages in rural Shropshire.
During my 7 years of managing a privately owned business I increased the annual turnover, year on year by 5 - 10%.
This was achieved by focusing on repeat business whilst encouraging new business through the introduction of short
breaks and advertising.
Occupancy rate also increased, giving the cottages a regular occupancy of 80 to 100% dependent on the season. This
was aided by constantly reviewing the cottage prices and ensuring they were seasonally adjusted to suit the market.
My greatest achievement whilst managing the cottages was increasing the Shropshire Tourism rating from 3 starts to 4
stars. This was achieved by a cottage upgrade which was then maintained to a high standard and offered as the
standard.
Home Maker 2004 â 2007
Time out to raise my daughter and move the family from Yorkshire to Shropshire.

attending committee meetings and socialising with my family and friends. Cooking and baking is very much an interest
and enjoyment of mine and I have been lucky enough to have won some prizes for these skills in various WI events.
The big prize was when I won âBest in Showâ for my baking at the Shrewsbury Flower Show, when I exhibited in the
Shropshire WI marquee. I rarely resist a challenge .I am a firm believer in team building and good communication in
and out of the work environment and I feel that I am very good at motivating others as well as myself. I am constantly
looking to improve myself. In the past I have done charity fashion shows where I model, I also modelled for a
wedding/evening dressmaker and hat designer in York for many years, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also get involved
with many local voluntary fundraising events. A healthy life style is extremely important to me and I believe a healthy
diet, active lifestyle and plenty of exercise are keys things to leading a fulfilled life.
In the future I can see myself continuing to work closely with people, whilst at the same time using my organisational
and team building skills to their fullest.
