THE REFLECTIVE CYCLE
CONCRETE EXPERIENCE
It was an interesting experience for me, even though I have worked with children and
teenagers for more than twenty years, the experience of working with children of three years
old was wonderful.
At the beginning, I attended three observation classes in order to get to know the group,
their tastes, their habits, their relationship with their peers and with the teachers, I also had
an interview with their teacher, all this helped me to plan my classes and resources and
strategies to use.
Although I work with different age groups , the experience of children of this age was
completely new, since they also took a class to get used to my presence.
At first they were shy and didn´t want to participate but after the first class they engaged
when I presented Peppa Pig and her friends , puppets, they remembered them every class and
interacted with them, Peppa Pig greeted them and they answered her. They were happy.
Teachers need to have a lot of patience to teach 3-year-old children because they are
extremely active and tend to lose concentration very easily.
REFLECTIVE OBSERVATION
If I have the opportunity to plan these classes again , I would consider to wear customes
When I presented them the animals I could wear a cat, fish or pig custome, I think that it
could be more interesting but it was very short the practice time and the class time, to
implement everything I thought when planning. I think that the implementation of the Natural
Approach proposed by Krashen S. children could incorporate the topics in a natural way, they
didn´t feel forced to repeat English words, animals and colours because they imitated what I
told them as the activities through which they have to choose the colours or imitate the
animals´s greetings.
ABSTRACT CONCEPTUALISATION
At first I felt really anxious and nervous the first class, so this did not allow me to enjoy the
first class, because I was very interested in what could happen.
The classes were meaningful because I had the opportunity to work and share with such
young students and to implement the theory, the methodology and the different strategies
seen and shared throughout the course.
ACTIVE EXPERIMENTATION
I was anxious about to speak English all the time because in this Kindergarten students don´t
have English as a subject then everything was new but after the first class I realized that we
should speak English all the time in class because young students understand very well the
language.
