THE HELSINKI REGION SMART & CLEAN
• Smart Kalasatama is a Helsinki city innovation platform,
where various Smart City solutions can be tested and
developed in an urban environment
• Model district for intelligent city development
• Smart Kalasatama has a wide scope and concept,
covering a variety of different industries and solutions
ranging from smart grids to eHealth and smart retail
• By the beginning of the 2030s, Kalasatama district will
offer a home for approximately 20,000 residents and jobs
for 8,000 people. Currently, there are 2,000 people living
in the area.

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communication has allowed remotely supervised testing of automated buses in real traffic conditions.
On the summer 2016, Finland launched French Easymile’s EZ10 driverless shuttles onto the public roads of Helsinki, as part of a pilot project called SOHJOA. The project is coordinated by Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, and it aims to solve the challenges of urban mobility and also find the best solutions for city traffic, safety and user experience. The autonomous buses work as piloting platform and are open for pilots until 2018.
