4. Permitted Uses – New
• Assisted Living/Residential Care Facility
“A building used or designed for the housing of the aged, and/or mentally or physically
handicapped persons who are in need of assistance with activities of daily living and/or
health care and/or personal care in a homelike setting and duly licensed by the State of
Texas for such purpose.”
– Permitted in SC Suburban Commercial, O Office and GC General Commercial
5. Permitted Uses – New
• Live-Work Unit
“A dwelling unit in which a significant portion of the space includes a non-residential use
that is operated by the tenant.”
– Permitted in SC Suburban Commercial & O Office
– Specific Use Standards: (Reflects 2015 International Building Code)
1. The Live-Work Unit may not be greater than 3,000 square feet, as amended by the City’s adopted
International Building Code (IBC)
2. Non-residential use may not be more than fifty percent (50%) of each Live-Work Unit.
3. Each Live-Work Unit shall not contain more than one (1) dwelling unit. The residential unit must be
attached to the non-residential use and may be accessible separate from the non-residential use.
4. In a two-story building, the residential unit must be located on the second floor.
5. If a residential garage is provided, it must be attached and not visible from the public right-of-way.
