Bringing Local Nonprofit Awareness To The Community
By: Colleen Voisin
Tiny Stitches Inc. was started in 1999 by a small group of women who wanted to put their talents of sewing,
crocheting, quilting, and knitting to good use. They started crafting hand-made clothing, bedding, and other items
for disadvantaged newborn infants and the idea quickly grew into the humbling organization it is today. They
have over 200 men and women volunteering across North Georgia, which range from the age of 8 to one who just
celebrated her 99th birthday.
"Tiny Stitches provides a diaper bag filled with baby items: quilt, afghan, receiving blankets, sleepers, gowns,
lap-front shirts, washcloths, changing pad, socks, fabric caps, and bibs. Items such as diaper shirts, sleep sacks,
knitted hats, sweaters, and matching socks are also available seasonally...we proudly provide burial ensembles
for any newborn regardless of financial status. All items are then delivered to requesting hospitals and clinics
usually averaging about 40 per month." says President, Susan Brunton.
