About Us
The Global Leadership Institute (GLI) is committed to helping international leaders enhance their
leadership skills, expand their networks, and to provide senior managers with the tools necessary to
make an impact in their organization.
Through work as the Irish Institute, the GLI continues towards the goal of enhancing peace and
reconciliation on the island of Ireland.
Our Vision
The GLI works to connect Boston College to a global community through its deep connections and
links with international business and political leaders and professional networks.

Aer Lingus College Football Classic
As part of Boston College’s participation in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, the GLI took part in a
number of events related to the game, including:
• The Lawyers Business Development Club Fireside Chat (Aug. 30)
• Irish Institute Alumni Event with Senator Mitchell (Aug. 31)
• The Gateway to Europe Business Golf Event (Sep. 1)
• The IDA Business Breakfast (Sep. 2)
• Kennedy Summer School for Politics and Policy (Sep. 8-11)
Through these events, the GLI increased Boston College’s presence in Ireland and Northern Ireland in
numerous professional communities, as well as raised awareness about Boston College in Ireland around
the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. All of these events help to establish Boston College’s presence in
Ireland as #MuchMoreThanAGame.

The Irish Institute Alumni Event was a celebration to honor
the over 800 alumni of Irish Institute Federal programing. The
event featured:
• Over 330 guests and Institute alumni at the Mansion
House, home of the Lord Mayor of Dublin
• Opening remarks from His Excellence Kevin O’Malley,
US Ambassador to Ireland
• Remarks from Minister Charlie Flanagan, Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade, Irish Institute alumnus
• Keynote address from Senator George Mitchell
• A panel discussion on youth diversion and engagement
with Irish Institute alumni
• A panel discussion on economic development with Irish
Institute alumni

About IDA Ireland: IDA Ireland works to encourage business and trade between Ireland and the US.
The Touchdown to Ireland Business Breakfast hosted over 100 guests and featured a panel of business
leaders from Ireland, Boston, and Georgia there to support Boston College and Georgia Tech.
This event was the continuation of a public discussion that started in Boston with a leadership conversation
featuring Brian Halligan, CEO and founder of Hubspot.

Festival of Irish-American History, Culture, and
Politics
September 8th – 11th 2016
