Unit 78: Task 2 Computer game concept
1. Task 2- Computer game graphics
Pixel Art:
Pixel art is a form of
digital art, created
through the use of raster
graphics software,
where images are edited
on the pixel level.
Graphics in most old (or
relatively limited)
computer and video
games, graphing
calculator games, and
many mobile phone
games are mostly pixel
art.
2. Concept Art:
Concept art is a form of illustration
where the main goal is to convey a
visual representation of a design,
idea, and/or mood for use in films,
video games, animation, or comic
books before it is put into the final
product. Concept art is also
referred to as visual development
and/or concept design. This term
can also be applied to retail design,
set design, fashion design and
architectural design.
3. Texture Art:
Textures, like other Design
Fundamentals are the tools
used to manipulate ideas
and give them graphic form.
The larger the repertoire of
tools, the better the choices
for personal interpretation.
4. Background
Graphics:
Backgrounds in games are really important. It
gives the game a realistic feel having a
realistic background while playing. For
instance, on call of duty, the edge of the
maps don’t just stop, they carry on to give
the user an idea of how big the map is, and it
gives the illusion that the map continues way
past the border of the playable map. Some
games just have bold colour background,
others have highly detailed backgrounds!
5. Print media:
Print media involves packaging and advertising
the products in question. This gives developers a
chance to show off their game, and bring in
customers before even playing the game. A good
outer packaging is crucial for a game to do well
as it sells the game to customers. If they make
the game seem boring and dull on the
packaging, not many people will look and buy
the game. The packaging must be interesting and
must be well designed.
