What was the #1 Movie? Star Wars? Saturday Night Fever? You'll probably never guess what was #2 because it was neither. Who won best actress? Actor? Best picture?
Star Wars opens in theaters and revolutionizes the use of
special effects. It also omitted opening credits. Lucas,
told by the Screen Actors Guild that he must have an
opening credits sequence, instead distributes the film
independently, sans the opening credits. The film's
release is often considered one of the most important
events in the film history.
I saw it in Manhattan shortly after opening and just before
reporting to West Point.
