The world stands on the threshold of a
stunning demographic transformation. It’s
called global aging and it promises to affect
every dimension of social and economic life.
Perhaps most fatefully, it could call into
question the ability of societies to maintain
a decent standard of living for the old
without imposing a crushing burden on the
young.
