4. Today’s Goals
Understand: Technology is not to
be used in isolation
Know: how to use technology as a
part of instruction
Do: share apps and
websites
5. AFFIRMATION
I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I can’t do interfere with what I can
do because there is the world wide web.
I am an epic educator and technology can never replace me
but only enhance my teaching.
Technology is a tool, not a learning outcome.
So therefore I will tech tech teach.
-Dr. Courtney L. Teague
Today's ESL students have little patience with long-winded lecturing and a lack of dialogue in the classroom. ESL students must be invited into the excitement of learning, through strategies that honor the amazing power of the brainand the unbridled energy of the human spirit.
SAMR is a model designed to help educators infuse technology into teaching and learning. Developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, the model supports and enables teachers to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experiences that utilize technology. The goal is to transform learning experiences so they result in higher levels of achievement for students.
I feel teachers need to both create tasks that target the higher-order cognitive skills (Bloom's) as well as design tasks that have a significant impact on student outcomes (SAMR).
Maslow's hierarchy of needs is often portrayed in the shape of a pyramid with the largest, most fundamental levels of needs at the bottom and the need for self-actualization at the top.[1][7] While the pyramid has become the de facto way to represent the hierarchy, Maslow himself never used a pyramid to describe these levels in any of his writings on the subject.
