4. What is Crossref ORCID Auto-Update?
• When publishers deposit an author’s ORCID with the article
metadata, Crossref will request long-term permission from
that author to post works to their ORCID record.
• Once permission is granted, Crossref will automatically post
these works to the authors record and any future
publications from any Crossref member.
• Any article deposited with an author’s ORCID in the past will
also get automatically pushed to the record after permission
has been granted.
5. ORCID in Crossref XML
ORCID iDs are solicited in OJS 2.4.x and OJS 3.x within the user and author profiles. In both
versions, if present in the author's profile, the ORCID iD will be included in the Crossref metadata
for deposit.

The paper is then added to their ORCID record. You can see the ‘source’ is Crossref. If long-lived permissions are granted, any future publications that Crossref sees will be added directly to the author’s ORCID record.
