Goalies in the goal circle
• The goal circle is commonly reffered to as ‘the crease’
• A goalkeeper in the goal-circle has special privileges and
protection
• May stop the ball with their hand, body and/or stick
• A goalkeeper in the crease may not be checked in any way
• When is a goalie in the crease?
• If any part of the goalkeeper is touching the goal-circle line
• If any part of the goalkeepers body is grounded in the goal-
circle
• The goalkeeper must move the ball outside the goal circle within 5
seconds of gaining possession

Attack
• Attacking players may not have their feet grounded in the goal-circle or on
the goal-circle line at any time
• Crease violation: turn over
• An attack player may play a ball within the goal-circle but must not:
• step on or over the goal-circle line to play the ball on a shot
• Step on or in the goal-circle until the whole ball passes the goal-circle
line
• Initiate contact with the goalkeeper or defender
• Cause a defender to make contact with the goalkeeper
• Interfere with the goalkeeper or their crosse in any way

Defense
• A goalkeeper or defending player who is outside the crease and has
possession of the ball may not enter the crease
• Re-entry of the crease: turn over
• Players in their defending area may move through their goal-circle:
• When they are marking the attack player with ball
• When they are marking a non-ball attack player
• When they are not marking any attack player, watch shooting space!
• To play the ball within the goal-circle
• Players in their defending area may remain in ther crease area when she is
marking the ball carrier
