Plot summary
The President of the United States is in Salamanca, Spain, about to
address the city in a public square. We see a plain-clothes cop, his
girlfriend with another man, a mother and child, an American tourist
with a video camera, and a Secret Service agent newly returned from
medical leave. Shots ring out and the President falls; a few minutes
later, we hear a distant explosion, then a bomb goes off in the square.
Those minutes are retold, several times, emphasizing different
characters' actions. Gradually, we discover who's behind the plot. Is the
Secret Service one step ahead, or have the President's adversaries
thought of everything?

Our idea from this film
This was one of the films which inspired us as the
idea of the film plays a major role In ours. As
vantage point (like in the title) shows the different
‘vantage points’ of key witnesses to a terrorist
attack. This film gives a different edge and feel to
others like it as its fro different peoples perspective
and point of view, whilst continuously unravelling
the story line.
Marketing
As any normal film ‘Vantage point’ used a whole host of
different types of advertisement. They used a very good
teaser trailer and trailer to help to draw audiences in,
highlighting well the USP which was the fact that it was
from different peoples perspective of a situation which had
taken place. The release date of this film in 2008, also
meant more people were incline to see the film as the film
was very up to date with the current situation with the
involvement with the military in the middle east as well as
heightened security of a possible terrorist attack after the
attack in 9/11.
Posters
The film had many different posters made to advertise the film and
some of these worked better than other. As the producers knew that the
key selling point was the different points of view and a new twist on the
genre, they had to play on this in their poster campaign. In the poster
on the left they have used key points of the film which helps to explain
slightly what is going on by using elements of the film in the poster,
such as the eye and the different character which are presented in the
film.
