2. Generation of foreign trade data
• India’s exports and imports take place through
344 ports. 126 ports are electronic data
interchange (EDI) enabled and rest of 218 ports
are operating on manual system or non-EDI
mode.
• 88.61% transactions accounting for 65.19% of
value is captured through EDI mode.
• Data flows from CBEC central server (ICEGATE) in
form of daily trade return to DGCIS. SEZ data
flows through NSDL. Non-EDI data flows
manually to DGCIS.

5. Generation of foreign trade data
• DGCIS processes more than 150 lakhs records per
year.
• Processed data is categorised into commodities
based on ITC(HS) at 8 digit X country.
• Foreign trade dissemination portal (FDDP) has
been put in place to give direct access to the
provisional and finalised data sets on a query
mode.
• User Id and password has been given to all data
users including departments/ministries, EPCs.
