Game Development
Overview
Game development is a very good skill to have and equally good
job to perform. It takes a lot of discipline and finesse to visualize
and create your game from start to finish. Your talent, organization
skills and hard work will show in the final product. If you can handle
the following steps thoroughly, you can develop your games in flow
and reach a level of success that your game truly deserves.
Game Development
• Concept
• Market
• Design
• Develop
• Test
• Launch
Main Aspects
Concept
Conceptualize your game
• You make the big idea or game concept that you want to create
• The concept starts with concept art and other visual features the game
requires, including the some of the game design features like game play,
characters design and level complexity
• The more compelling the design the better it is for creating a financially
viable game that you can sell in the store
Market
Market your game concept
• You want to start marketing the game as soon as you have the concept
materials
• Spread the word about the game in your own creative style on social
media and other channels like groups and forums
• Make sure you intrigue the users without revealing too many details about
the game
Design
Design your game assets
• This is where you start the design work of the game like drawings, 3d
assets, characters, animations, levels, game play, storyline etc
• You will also prepare the overall aspects of the game and create some
early versions of all the objects so it can be used to create a working
prototype of the game
• You will wear different hats for example, level designer, audio designer,
artist, programmer, producer
Develop
Develop the full game
• Developing the game is when you bring all the pieces of the game
together
• You put together the logic behind the art and 3d assets and make
everything functional in a level or more
• You create a proof-of-concept that you can then show to your
stakeholders
• Once you have some feedback and direction for the game you create the
full game
Test
Test your game
• The testing part happens during the development as well
• But once the whole game is complete you test it for bugs and issues with
the game
• Testers play an important role in making sure the game is functioning
properly and aid to the developers what needs to be fixed and improved
Launch
Launch your game successfully
• Now that you have gone through the phases of development you launch
your game to the world
• Thanks to starting to market the game at the inception, you will have
secured a loyal fanbase who is eager to buy and play the game
• Once you launch the game and get people to play it, you have to standby
to fix any outstanding issues and make sure the game runs smoothly
Thank You
