Public sector banks continue to report poor earnings on the back of worsening asset quality. Bengaluru-headquartered public
sector lender Vijaya Bank BSE 2.39 % on Thursday reported a 26% drop in net profit for the fourth-quarter ended March 2016 at
Rs 71.3 crore on account of higher provisioning. It had reported a net profit of Rs 96.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last
year. The bank more than doubled its provisioning to Rs 653.3 crore against Rs 305.5 crore last year on worsen .
Technical Outlook : On daily chart stock is trading in sideways movement with negative bias. Recent assets quality concern likely to have

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on May 12 reported over 13-fold jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 143.04 crore for the March
quarter on the back of robust sales across all markets including the US, Europe and India. The Mumbai-based firm had posted a
net profit of Rs 10.61 crore during the January-March period of 2014-15 fiscal. Consolidated revenue of the company rose to Rs
2,306.67 crore in the January-March period of the 2015-16 fiscal as against Rs 1,775.81 crore in the same period of previous
fiscal, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals said in a regulatory filing. "We have rebounded strongly in the fourth quarter with growth
across all markets. The India and the US business continue to grow in excess of 20 percent. The company received 24 approvals
from the USFDA in this fiscal which has been a record for the company, he added.
Technical Outlook : On daily chart, stock has given positive breakout of its upper band of ascending triangle pattern with above
average volume, which is a bullish reversal pattern and indicates for upside movement. Moreover, stock has been trading above
its 100 day moving average which is placed at 809.40 level, which shows that short to medium term trend is up. A momentum
indicator RSI reading is at 67.89 level with positive crossover, which point out for positive breath in the stock. So for trading
perspective, one could Buy in the range of 856-860 for the Target of 878 with the SL of 847.
US stocks ended mixed on Thursday, with gains in telecommunications and consumer staples helping make up for a
tumble in Apple to a two-year low. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones swerved between gains and losses before ending virtually
flat. Up 0.90 percent, Microsoft was the largest upward force in the S&P 500. Apple Inc, a mainstay in many portfolios,
was the heaviest drag on the three major indexes, slumping 2.35 percent to USD 90.34, its lowest since June 2014, as
worries festered about slowing demand for iPhones. A rally in the S&P 500 from its February lows petered out in the last
two weeks amid underwhelming corporate reports and economic data that clouded the path of interest rate increases
this year. The index is now up about 1 percent in 2016. On Thursday, two US Federal Reserve officials said the central
bank should raise rates if data points to an improving economy.
Following tepid global cues this morning, the Nifty is expected to open in the red. SGX Nifty was down 47.00 at 7876.00 at
the time of writing. The 50-share index on Thursday managed to close above 7900 after almost two weeks and the Sensex
was up 193.20 points at 25790.22. Markets in Asia opened lower in early trade, following a modest finish in US equities. In
addition, Bank of Korea is expected to announce its monetary policy decision this morning. On Wall Street, stocks closed
mostly lower, weighed by declines in health care and technology stocks, as traders eyed oil prices and awaited the retail
sales report due Friday.
