It has been a year marked by the formal launch of the Sustainable Development Goals, humanitarian crises, and political change.

But, in all of that, the role of business in addressing development challenges, from agriculture to humanitarian aid, and from health to climate, has continued to grow and gain recognition.

Here’s a look at some of the top Devex Impact articles from the past year.

Top Devex Impact stories of 2016

  1. 1. It has been a year marked by the formal launch of the Sustainable Development Goals, humanitarian crises, and political change. But, in all of that, the role of business in addressing development challenges, from agriculture to humanitarian aid, and from health to climate, has continued to grow and gain recognition.
  2. 2. Here’s a look at some of the top Devex Impact articles from the past year.
  3. 3. Devex Impact took a look at bitcoin and blockchain technology — explaining what it is, it’s role in global development and looking at how it is being used in Venezuela and how it could be harnessed for financial transparency.
  4. 4. An emerging trend this year was the increased interest and experimentation by NGOs in the impact investing space. Devex Impact explored where they fit in, how those interested can get involved and how the Catholic Church is considering investing.
  5. 5. As the world’s humanitarian crises and flows of refugees have dominated headlines, Devex Impact explored the role of the private sector in humanitarian response, and how new methods of delivering aid to refugees or migrants — for example in the form of cash payments — are changing the landscape.
  6. 6. Earlier this year the Clinton Global Initiative made all of their commitments public and a Devex exclusive looked at the failed commitments and what lessons can be learned about those partnerships.

Devex Impact wrote about what makes accelerators work, how entrepreneurs can pitch investors, the Global Innovation Fund’s first round of investments and how innovation is changing credit scoring.
