Style Guide
Create style-based tempalte that matches your brand
(font, colours, logos).
Include auto-populating features (e.g., TOC updating,
headers, footers, secton numbering, index).
Build structure based on your TOC.
Add annotations to guide multiple contributors.
Step 2: Create a Robust Template
Issue a template and a style guide
to each author.
Keep content organization, writing
style and document appearance
consistent from the beginning of
the process to save time later.
Update parallel section templates
to the correct numbering
throughout with little more than a
right click in the Level 1 heading.
Step 3: Divide and Conquer
Consider content and report purpose
Consider your audience and how they will find
information in the report.
Determine whether you will need:
Executive Summary
Several unique sections
Several parallel sections
Appendices (list data, tables, figures, maps)
For each section:
Review, revise and format as final using your writing
tools (i.e., style guide and template).
Copy the TOC and add it to a master TOC file in the
main template.
Export each finalized section to PDF. Styles will
create bookmarks for easy online navigation.
Compile the separate PDFs into a single, sharp-looking
document.
Step 4: Format, PDF and Compile
