5. Tabular Project Development
A tabular model can be developed using the Tabular Project template in
SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT)
The model designer requires connectivity to an SSAS instance in tabular mode
The project is deployed to an SSAS instance in tabular mode, and results in the
creation of a database
Excel via an ODC file is the analyzing/testing environment
The code base used by the model designer is the same used by the
PowerPivot Window
New tabular design features have been added to both designers in the SQL
Server 2012 release

Supported features not available in the Tabular Project include:

Note it is possible to restore a PowerPivot workbook directly on an SSAS
instance in tabular mode, and then create and manage table partitions and
roles, or configure the query mode
11. POWER VIEW
Users create a new Power View report (.rdlx) from:
A BISM Connection File (.bism)
A PowerPivot workbook (.xlsx) in the PowerPivot Gallery (in Gallery view)
An SSRS shared data source (.rsds) based on a tabular BI Semantic Model
Reports can consist of multiple views and each view can be filtered
Reports may be:
Printed
Saved to SharePoint libraries
Exported to PowerPoint
Clicking the report will open it in Preview mode
If the user has permission, they can switch to Edit mode
12. POWER VIEW
The design experience consists of:
Ribbon
Canvas
Filter area
Field List
Layout selection
The report may be viewed in Preview or Full Screen
mode
Visualizations can be added to the canvas and then
configured using the Layout Selection
