A piecemeal approach to handing off a pm role.
This is just part 1.
The end goal of this overview is to enable the zero experienced , incoming project manager to ask the right questions while still in transition , without feeling the need to learn a lot or be trained too much.
My personal belief is that , we always learn by doing , and in doing , we do not stop ourselves from relearning what we already know.
I had a difficult time condensing my years of experience into one document while I was handing over the role but in doing so, I realized that I had learned new things from what is already familiar to me and that it was time to pass it on and move along.
I hope you find this material useful.

Editor's Notes
So there’s a problem , and there is at least one person who cared enough to think of a solution.

What it is?
A project brief provides information about the whole project in a simplified manner. It explains the expected project output, the overview of the project and the particular demands and needs that are essential to be provided to ensure the project’s success. For you to create a comprehensive project brief, you have to ensure that these items are included in the document that you will make:

Purpose:
1. An avenue for all stakeholders to be on the same page about what we are trying to achieve with what we want to do.
2. This is an opportunity to understand the WHY and WHAT .
( What is the problem we're trying to solve, what help do you need from us, what is the timeline, what UX questions , why not? )
3. Bring clarity to any confusion. This is the reason why we need to have a resource we can review in advance so we have relevant questions we can
bring to the meeting.
What it’s not?
3. This is not an avenue to dig to deep on the "HOW". We are the experts and we figure out the HOW to do things.
5. It's informational meeting and not brainstorming or decision making.

Project Kick offs :
Assumption to this work flow :
-Project comes in from a won opportunity, say, any ground up product
- QA Service is needed before product launch
- UX team is needed for usability testing
Purpose:
1. An avenue for all stakeholders to be on the same page about what we are trying to achieve with what we want to do.
2. This is an opportunity to understand the WHY and WHAT .
( What is the problem we're trying to solve, what help do you need from us, what is the timeline, what UX /Dev/QA/ questions we need to ask , why not? )
3. Bring clarity to any confusion. This is the reason why we need to have a resource we can review in advance so we have relevant questions we can

5. It's informational meeting and not brainstorming or decision making.
What happens during a Kick Off?
1. We are gathering the information that we need to know before we officially start our project.
Project brief template serves as our guidance .
2. We are asking relevant questions
What happens after Kick Off?
1. We are ready to transition from a bird's eye view to a worm eye view of our engagement.
2. We are also ready to onboard our colleagues ( as needed ) without too much hassle.
Checklist Before we are kick off ready:
-Do we have a formal request? ( via email, jira or through Whey )
-Is there a vision for the project?
-Do the sponsors and users agree on scope?
-Will all the impacted stakeholders be included in the process?
-Is the deadline feasible?
-Will the participants work well with each other and with the facilitator
-Will the participants include people who have long term experience with the business area and with the IT system?
-Are they open to new ideas?
-Are they prepared to transfer knowledge?
* Skype chats
*Pre-kick off document
*Jira request
