ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Over the years, bands conducted by Mr. Lombardo (at every level, whether Beginner or Intermediate
or Concert) have earned a vast majority of ratings of I for Superior performance at Catholic Band
Directors' Festival and National Catholic Band Association Band Contest, including top score at the
Catholic Band Directors' Festival in 2001 (Mary, Seat of Wisdom Senior Band), and at the NCBA
Band Contest in 1995 (Mary, Seat of Wisdom Senior Band), 1997 (St. Colette Band and St. Norbert
Junior Band - a tie), 1999 (Mary, Seat of Wisdom Senior Band), 2001 (St. Eugene Senior Band), and
2007 (St. Eugene/Immaculate Conception Community Concert Band). And the non-first place ratings
have all been ratings of II for Excellent performance.
Over the years, at every school at which Mr. Lombardo has taught, band students taught by him have
earned better than a 3 to 1 ratio of ratings of I for Superior performance to ratings of II for Excellent
performance and III for Good performance combined at solo and ensemble contests over the years,
including many perfect-score ratings of I.
Mary, Seat of Wisdom Band was one of only two Catholic grade-school bands to march and play in
the Archdiocese of Chicago's 150th-Anniversary Parade in September of 1994.
Mary, Seat of Wisdom Band also marched in the Park Ridge Memorial Day Parade every year from
1986 through 2005, and in the Norwegian National Parade in Park Ridge in 1998, 2000, 2002, and
2004.
Mary, Seat of Wisdom Band also performed for two Archbishops of Chicago: Senior Band for
Cardinal Francis George, OMI, at the dedication of the Kalas Parish Center and the Barry
Gymnasium in November of 1999, and the whole band for Cardinal Joseph Bernardin at the
dedication of the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home in Chicago in May of 1986 and at the
aforementioned Archdiocese of Chicago 150th-anniversary parade in 1994.
St. Paul of the Cross Band marched in the Park Ridge Memorial Day Parade in 2006, 2007, and
2008.
The combined forces of Immaculate Conception Band and St. Eugene Band marched in the Oriole
Park 4th of July Parade (in Chicago) in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
St. Thomas of Villanova Band played in the Palatine 4th of July Parade each year from 1992 through
1995.
Annunciata/St. Francis de Sales Band marched (and played) in the East Side Little League Parade
(in Chicago) in 1990, 1991, and 1992.
Mr. Lombardo was the Guest Band Director for Notre Dame High School for Boys (Niles, IL) /
Resurrection High School (Chicago, IL) Band, in May of 2001. Rehearsed the band for and
conducted the band at Notre Dame High School for Boys' graduation ceremonies on the last
Saturday of May 2001.
In 2003, Mr. Lombardo was honored by Council II-A of the Archdiocese of Chicago's Office of
Catholic Schools for 20 years of teaching at Mary, Seat of Wisdom School and for 10 years of
teaching at St. Eugene School.
