  3. 3. Nonprofit boards are available for anybody whose interested and has something to offer! Here are some reasons YOU should join:
  4. 4. Learning patience Wading through the various ideas and arguments spoken during a board meeting and gleaming something out of them will teach you profound patience
  5. 5. Asking for money If trick or treaters can ask for UNICEF pennies, then you can ask for money too!
  6. 6. Enriching your resume Being on a nonprofit board just looks good!
  7. 7. Meeting interesting ! people You’ll meet people from diverse backgrounds and experiences that you otherwise wouldn’t
  8. 8. Playing nicely Navigating a board and making the most out of it involves diplomacy and teamwork
  9. 9. Better understanding assets You’ll learn to better understand financial statements and ask related questions that make sense
  10. 10. Running effective meetings You’ll learn a different set of skills managing a group of people who don’t work for you than you will heading a staff meeting
  11. 11. Stimulating your mind You’ll be able to bring your full self to the table, instead of just parts
  12. 12. Better appreciating the organization The closer you are to the work of a nonprofit, the more passionate you’ll become about it
