Gathering Song
Safe and Sound

By: Capital Cities
I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
I could fill your cup
You know my river won't evaporate
This world we still appreciate

You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we'll be safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
I could show you love
In a tidal wave of mystery
You'll still be standing next to me

You could be my luck
Even if we're six feet underground
I know that we'll be safe and sound
We'll be safe and sound
I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound

I could lift you up
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound

We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound

We’re safe and sound

OPENING SONG

Who Am I?

By: Casting Crowns
Who am I,
that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I,
that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm
falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who Am I,
that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and
watch me rise again
Who Am I,
that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm
falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm
falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours
Confession of Gifts
Leader: Today we are united by the
Living God who creates us, redeems
us and enlivens us.
All: Amen.
P: “There is one body
and one Spirit, just as
you were called in one
hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one
baptism; one God and
father of all, and in you
all.
But to each one of us
grace was given according
to the measure of Christ’s
gift.” (Ephesians 4) Let us
bear witness to these
words by confessing to
God and one another our
giftedness.
All: We confess that we
were made in the image
and likeness of God.
Each of us has been
endowed with many
unique gifts. These
gifts are ours to be
used for the benefit of
the kingdom of God
and to God’s glory.
We are, each of
us, amazing. We are
masterpieces of
God, beautiful and of
great worth. We are of
such worth that the
God of the universe
became one of us in
order to save all of us.
We are salt and light for
the world. We are God’s
partners for creating a
just and peaceful world.
P: We live in a world full of
enmity and strife. We live in
a world with rich and poor;
hungry and
overfed, included and
excluded. What shall we do
with our gifts?
All: We will see all
people as gifted. We
choose to look for the
inherent worth of every
human being. We
desire to join with
people of all
races, classes, and
religions
to employ our gifts for
the creation of a just
planet.
Our vision is nothing
less than the promised
shalom of God.
P: May God, who has
given us the will to do
such things, and our
wonderfully diverse gifts,
also grant us the
diligence and courage to
accomplish them. May
God lead us by the
power of the Holy Spirit.
May God’s love be as
real to us as our own
heartbeats.
All: Amen!
Let it be so!

Amen!
Until The
Whole
World Hears
Lord I want to feel your heart
and see the world through your eyes
I want to be your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the
darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble
as our praises rise
Until the whole world hears
Lord we are calling out
Lifting up Your name for all to hear
the sound
Like voices in the wilderness
we're crying out
as the day draws near
We'll sing until the whole world
hears
Lord, let your sleeping giant rise
Catch the demons by surprise
Holy nation sanctified
Let this be our battle cry
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the
darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble
as our praises rise
Until the whole world hears
Lord we are calling out
Lifting up Your name for all to hear
the sound
Like voices in the wilderness
we're crying out
as the day draws near
We'll sing until the whole world
Hears (x2)
I want to be your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads
To see you set the captive free
Until the whole world hears
and I pray that they will see
more of you and less of me
Lord I want my life to be
the song You sing
Until the whole world hears
Lord we are calling out
Lifting up Your name for all to hear
the sound
Like voices in the wilderness
we're crying out
as the day draws near
We'll sing until the whole world
Hears (x5)
Prayer of the Day:
Lead by Reilly Biedebach
Almighty God, your presence
reassures us in time of
uncertainty and terror,
we pray for wisdom and
courage to discern your
purposes in every time and place.
Help us to stand for the best we are.
Keep us from being led astray by
competing voices that compromise
your intentions for us and all
people. Give us strength to
be the church and never
become weary of doing
what is right. In Jesus
name we pray
AMEN

Sanctuary
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary,
pure and holy, tried and true;
With thanksgiving I’ll be a living
sanctuary for You.
It is You Lord, who came to save me;
the heart and soul of everyone.
It is You Lord,
Who knows my weakness,
Who gives me strength by Your own hand.
Lead me on, Lord, from temptation,
purify me from within.
Fill my heart with
Your Holy Spirit,
take away all my sin.

10,000 Reasons
By Matt Redman

Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul,
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before,
O my soul.
I'll worship Your holy name
The sun comes up
it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song
again,
Whatever may pass and
whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when
the evening comes
Bless the Lord O my soul,
O my soul,
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul,
I'll worship Your holy name
You're rich in love and
You're slow to anger,
Your name is great and
Your heart is kind,
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing,
Ten thousand reasons
for my heart to find
Bless the Lord O my soul,
O my soul,
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul,
I'll worship Your holy name
And on that day when
my strength is failing,
The end draws near and
my time has come,
Still my soul will sing
Your praise unending,
Ten thousand years
and then forevermore
Bless the Lord O my soul,
O my soul,
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul,
I'll worship Your holy name
Worship Your holy name,
Lord I'll worship Your
holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

Affirmation of Baptism
pg 234 ELW
P:Let us pray. Merciful God, we thank you
for these sisters and brothers, whom you
have made your own by water and the
Word in baptism. You have called them to
yourself, enlightened them with the gifts of
your Spirit, and nourished them in the
community of faith. Uphold your servants
in the gifts and promises of baptism, and
unite the hearts of all whom you have
brought to new birth. We ask this in the
name of Christ.
All: Amen
P: I ask you to profess your faith in Christ
Jesus, reject sin, and confess the faith of
The church. Do you renounce the devil and
all the forces that defy God?
Response:
I renounce them.
P: Do you renounce the powers of this
world that rebel against God?
Response:
I renounce them.
P: Do you renounce the ways of sin that
draw you from God?
Response:
I renounce them.
P: Do you believe in God the Father?
All:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty
Creator of heaven and earth
P: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son
of God?
All:
I believe in Jesus Christ,
God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, …
…suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the
Father, and he will come to judge the
living and the dead.
P: Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?
All:
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
P: You have made public profession of
your faith. Do you intend to continue in the
covenant God made with you in holy
baptism: to live among God's faithful
people, to hear the word of God and share
in the Lord's supper, to proclaim the good
news of God in Christ through word and
deed, to serve all people, following the …
P:…example of Jesus,
and to strive for justice and peace in all the
earth?
Each response:
I do, and I ask God to help and guide
me.
P: People of God, do you promise to
support these sisters and brothers and pray
for them in their life in Christ?
All:
We do, and we ask God to help and
guide us.
P: Let us pray.
We give you thanks, O God, that through
water and the Holy Spirit you give us new
birth, cleanse us from sin, and raise us to
eternal life.
P: Stir up in Katherine, Michaela, and Eric
the gift of your Holy Spirit:
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the
Lord, the spirit of joy in your presence,
both now and forever.
ALL: Amen
P: Let us rejoice with these sisters and
brothers in Christ.
ALL:
We rejoice with you in the life of
baptism. Together we will give thanks
and praise to God and proclaim the
good news to all the world.

Here I Am To Worship

Hughes
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes, Let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore you
Hope of a life spent with you
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
So highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly you came
to the earth you created
All for love's sake became poor
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross I'll
never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you're my God
You're altogether lovely

When he rolls up his sleeves
he ain‟t “puttin‟ on the ritz.”
Our God is an awesome God!
There is thunder
in his footsteps
and lightning in his fists.
Our God is an awesome God!
And the Lord wasn‟t jokin‟
when he kicked „em out of Eden;
It wasn‟t for no reason
that he shed his blood.
His return is very close
so you better be believin‟ that
our God is an awesome God!
Our God is an awesome God;
he reigns from heav‟n above
with wisdom, pow‟r and love.
Our God is an awesome God.
Our God is an awesome God;
he reigns from heav‟n above
with wisdom, pow‟r and love.
Our God is an awesome God.
And when the sky
was starless
in the void of the night,
Our God is an awesome God!
he spoke into the darkness
and created the light.
Our God is an awesome God!
The judgment and wrath
he poured out on Sodom,
the mercy and grace
he gave us on the cross.
I hope we have not
too quickly forgotten that
our God is an awesome God!
Our God is an awesome God;
he reigns from heav‟n above
with wisdom, pow‟r and love.
Our God is an awesome God.
Our God is an awesome God;
he reigns from heav‟n above
with wisdom, pow‟r and love.
Our God is an awesome God.
Our God is an awesome God.
Our God is an awesome God.

Built on a Rock

ELW 652
Built on a rock the church shall stand,
even when steeples are falling;
crumbled have spires in ev'ry land,
bells still are chiming and calling
calling the young and old to rest,
calling the souls of those distressed,
longing for life everlasting.
Surely, in temples made with hands
God the Most High is not dwelling—
high in the heav'ns his temple stands,
all earthly temples excelling,
Yet God who dwells in heav'n above
deigns to abide with us in love,
making our bodies his temple.
Christ builds a house of living stones:
we are his own habitation;
he fills our hearts, his humble thrones,
granting us life and salvation.
were two or three will seek his face,
he in their midst will show his grace,
blessings upon them bestowing.
Yet in this house, an earthly frame,
Jesus the children is blessing;
hither we come to praise his name,
faith in our Savior confessing.
Jesus to us his Spirit sent,
making with us his covenant,
granting his children the kingdom.
Through all the passing years, O Lord,
grant that, when church bells are ringing,
many may come to hear your Word
who here this promise is bringing:
"I know my own, my own know me;
you, not the world, my face shall see;
my peace I leave with you. Amen."
Amen

without losing what
is eternal, through
Jesus Christ, our

How firm a foundation,
Oh saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in
His excellent Word!
What more can he say
than to you he has said
Who unto the Savior
for refuge have fled?
Fear not, I am with you,
oh, be not dismayed,
For I am your God
and will still give you aid;
I’ll strengthen you, help you,
and cause you to stand
Upheld by my righteous,
omnipotent hand.
When through fiery trials
your pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient,
shall be your supply.
The flames shall not hurt you;
I only design
Your dross to consume
and your gold to refine.
Throughout all their lifetime
My people shall prove
My sovereign,
eternal unchangeable love;
And then when gray hairs
shall their temples adorn,
Like lambs they shall still
in my bosom be borne.

Spirit of God,
descend upon my heart;
wean it from earth,
through all its pulses
move;
stoop to my weakness,
strength to me impart,
and make me love you
as I ought to love.
I ask no dream,
no prophet ecstasies,
no sudden rending
of the veil of clay,
no angel visitant,
no op'ning skies;
but take the dimness
of my soul away. love.
Have you not bid me love you,
God and King; all, all your own,
soul, heart, and strength, and mind?
I see your cross;
there teach my heart to cling.
Oh, let me seek you and,
oh, let me find!
Teach me to love you
as your angels love,
one holy passion filling all my frame:
the baptism of the heav'ndescended dove,
my heart an altar,
and your love the flame.

Hymn #654

The Church's
One Foundation
AURELIA
Tune: Samuel S. Wesley, 1810-76
The church's one foundation
is Jesus Christ, her Lord;
she is his new creation
by water and the word.
From heav'n he came
and sought her
to be his holy bride;
with his own blood he bought her,
and for her life he died.
Elect from ev'ry nation,
yet one o'er all the earth;
her charter of salvation
one Lord, one faith, one birth;
one holy name she blesses,
partakes one holy food,
and to one hope she presses
with ev'ry grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder
this world sees her oppressed,
by schisms rent asunder,
by heresies distressed,
yet saints their watch are keeping;
their cry goes up: "How long?"
and soon the night of weeping
shall be the morn of song.
Through toil and tribulation
and tumult of her war,
she waits the consummation
of peace forevermore;
till with the vision glorious
her longing eyes are blest,
and the great church victorious
shall be the church at rest.
Yet she on earth has union
with God, the Three in One,
and mystic sweet communion
with those whose rest is won.
Oh, blessed heav'nly chorus!
Lord, save us by your grace,
that we, like saints before us,
may see you face to face.

  • 1. Gathering Song Safe and Sound By: Capital Cities

  • 10. PENTECOST XXVI CONFIRMATION SUNDAY November 17, 2013 WELCOME & INVOCATION
  • 11. OPENING SONG Who Am I? By: Casting Crowns
  • 12. Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star Would choose to light the way For my ever wandering heart
  • 13. Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You are
  • 14. I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours, I am Yours
  • 15. Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin Would look on me with love and watch me rise again Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea Would call out through the rain And calm the storm in me
  • 16. Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You are
  • 17. I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours, I am Yours
  • 18. Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You are
  • 19. I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours, I am Yours
  • 20. I am Yours Whom shall I fear Whom shall I fear 'Cause I am Yours I am Yours
  • 21. Confession of Gifts Leader: Today we are united by the Living God who creates us, redeems us and enlivens us. All: Amen.
  • 22. P: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and father of all, and in you all.
  • 23. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” (Ephesians 4) Let us bear witness to these words by confessing to God and one another our giftedness.
  • 24. All: We confess that we were made in the image and likeness of God. Each of us has been endowed with many unique gifts. These gifts are ours to be used for the benefit of the kingdom of God and to God’s glory.
  • 25. We are, each of us, amazing. We are masterpieces of God, beautiful and of great worth. We are of such worth that the God of the universe became one of us in order to save all of us.
  • 26. We are salt and light for the world. We are God’s partners for creating a just and peaceful world. P: We live in a world full of enmity and strife. We live in a world with rich and poor; hungry and overfed, included and excluded. What shall we do with our gifts?
  • 27. All: We will see all people as gifted. We choose to look for the inherent worth of every human being. We desire to join with people of all races, classes, and religions to employ our gifts for the creation of a just planet.
  • 28. Our vision is nothing less than the promised shalom of God.
  • 29. P: May God, who has given us the will to do such things, and our wonderfully diverse gifts, also grant us the diligence and courage to accomplish them. May God lead us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • 30. May God’s love be as real to us as our own heartbeats. All: Amen! Let it be so! Amen!
  • 32. Lord I want to feel your heart and see the world through your eyes I want to be your hands and feet I want to live a life that leads
  • 33. Ready yourselves, ready yourselves Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night Ready yourselves, ready yourselves May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise
  • 34. Until the whole world hears Lord we are calling out Lifting up Your name for all to hear the sound Like voices in the wilderness we're crying out as the day draws near We'll sing until the whole world hears
  • 35. Lord, let your sleeping giant rise Catch the demons by surprise Holy nation sanctified Let this be our battle cry
  • 36. Ready yourselves, ready yourselves Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night Ready yourselves, ready yourselves May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise
