Introduction • Dr. Gregg Gorton is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Temple University School of Medicine and serves as the associate director of an inpatient ward at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Outside his clinical duties, Dr. Gregg Gorton serves as a council member of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club (DVOC). The DVOC works to encourage the study of birds, and, among other activities, it manages the DVOC Interns Fund to support interns in the ornithology department of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. The DVOC Interns Fund program provides support to young people who display an interest in birds and wish to become involved in ornithological work at the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Delaware Valley Ornithological Club • Eligible interns include high school and college aged individuals who will be given a stipend for their work at the academy and for their participation in efforts to strengthen ties between it and the DVOC. A lifetime member of the DVOC supplied an initial $10,000 gift to launch the program; the DVOC plans to increase the fund amount in the future. The organization encourages members of the public to help build the Interns Fund through tax-deductible donations in order to help it support a higher number of interns.
