Knowledge QUIZ
By

Department of Mechanical Engineering
Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon
What is QUIZ?
• A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in
which the players (as individuals or in teams)
attempt to answer questions correctly.
• A quiz is also a brief assessment used in
education and similar fields to measure
growth in knowledge, abilities, and/or skills.
• Quizzes are usually scored in points and many
quizzes are designed to determine a winner
from a group of participants - usually the
participant with the highest score.
What is QUIZ?
• In an educational context, a quiz is usually a form of a
student assessment, but often has fewer questions of
lesser difficulty and requires less time for completion than
a test.
• A quiz is a game which can also be called a mind sport
wherein the players, either as individuals or in teams
attempt to answer questions posed to them correctly, in
order to win a prize.
• The students that are equipped with enormous “stock
knowledge,” are tipped to pull through from a tough field
composed of the brightest and smartest competitors. But in
order to amass ample stock knowledge an aspirant must be
able to come up with a comprehensive preparation and
must be armed with techniques, strategies and right
character
Why Quiz must be implemented
• The objective of every quiz competition is to encourage students to
look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship
between theory and application of the learnt concepts.
• Quiz evaluates how you can function as a part of a team.
• The various benefits of quiz competitions, as follows:
• Quizzes improve or expand one’s knowledge , either general or in
specific area
• Quiz competitions enable students to think from different angles or
simply ‘to think out of the box’
• It promotes a healthy debate amongst participants in order to learn
from each other
• Quiz competitions are used in Schools and Universities to aid in
language development and in particular subject areas of study
Benefits of Quiz
• Quiz competitions even help build the student’s soft
skills
• Aiding in language development with the questions
based in the language alone
• Quizzes are designed to promote, a fun way to study
and in the process help improve one’s general
knowledge
• Aiding in the team building process
• Promoting group harmony, whether in organizations,
schools or just a group of friends
• Quiz competitions even help build the student’s soft
skills
Company's Perspective:
• Quiz may help students to face the different
tests offered by the company, as it attempts to
test the intellectual abilities of the students in
various fields of endeavors such as
mathematics, science, general knowledge,
current events, literature, history and social
science.
Tips on Technical quiz
1) Thorough preparation:
• Do your best to make yourself versatile in different
field of endeavors. Constant reading and solving
numerous math problems will help a lot.
2) Master the basics:
• Once you have a solid foundation by virtue of
bolstering your basic know-how, try to keep on raising
the bar one notch higher by keep on tackling more
advanced topics.
3) Listening Skills:
• Stay focused and do not let distractions hamper your
preparations.
How to conduct quiz
• Any suggestions?
• Take Revision of last activity conducted
• Explain the importance of quiz(15 Min)
• Make four/five group of students and decide their
group leader.(done in last meeting) (Preferably 1 from
each class)
• Involve one group as volunteers for conduct of this
quiz.( two persons for asking the questions, one for
giving points and one for maintaining timing etc,)
• Decide in advance that the type of questions are from
academic syllabus only and no. of rounds as 3 as per
next slide. ( Ask group leader to submit the quiz paper
in advance and check for repeated questions)
How to conduct quiz
• A surprise question may be from mentor side in
round C for which mentor will prepare the
questions.
• Each group will prepare questions set and they
will also conduct the quiz effectively for other
four groups.
• Each group have to conduct quiz in 15
min.(4*15=+60 =75 Min)
• Mentee personal skill presentation(+15=90 Min)
• Remaining time( +20= 110Min) for result
preparation and planning of next activity.
Round in Quiz
• The quiz must be taken in three rounds, namely,
• Round A (Low difficulty level) - In this round questions
should be asked in a sequential order. If a particular
group fails to answer, the question will be passed to
next group minimizing the weightage of that question
to half of its original.
• Round B (Medium difficulty level) – This round will be
a rapid fire round. The students will have to give
maximum answers to the questions asked within the
stipulated time.
• Round C (Higher difficulty level) - This round will be a
buzzer round.
