• “Technical” – here it means ‘specialized terminology’ or
knowledge that is unique to one occupation
• Technical training is the process of teaching employees how to
more accurately and thoroughly (carefully) perform the technical
components of their jobs
• It includes technology applications, products, sales and service
tactics and more
• Technical skills are job-specific while soft-skills transferable
• Technology - the competitive advantage - the changing
technology create severe challenges to the business – business
has to adapt to the technological changes in its environment
• In-house training and external training method can be used
• Based on the facilities available a firm has to take the decision
Need and Objectives of Technological Training
1. Maintain competitiveness – adapt to the modern technology – non-
human resource posses to problem –human resource the most
difficult to adaptation
2. To reduce downtime: Technical training provides required skill to the
workers to perform their work most efficiently and use machines,
tools and equipments effectively.
The initial time required by a trained worker to engage or to start a job
(downtime) is very much less than that taken by an untrained worker.
Thus, training make the workers more productive and help in
reducing the idle time and labor cost

performance level of workers – to perform well employees require
training in different aspects
Making productivity training effective
1. Assign the responsibility of training to a senior executive
2. Engage skilled, experienced experts for delivery of training
3. Develop training curriculum that promotes productivity
4. Seek the help of different functional managers as well as managers
at different levels to ascertain the areas where training is needed
5. Develop integrated training modules
6. Give importance to practical training and application of technology
in business process (technical training)
7. Make training a continuous one
Leadership Training
• Leaders are people who do right thing: managers are
the people who do things right
• Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do
something you want done because he wants to do it.
• Leaders help themselves and others to do the right
things. They set direction, building an inspiring vision
and create something new
• Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go
to “win” as a team or an organization; and is dynamic,
exciting and inspiring
• They set the direction, use management skills to guide
their people to the right destination in a smooth and
efficient ways
A leader can be –
-a political leader, religious leader, community
leader
-an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle
for the rest
-an executive, developing his/her company’s
strategy to beat its competitor
