Summer is here! Summer months mean more time outside enjoying the gorgeous weather. Whether you are at the pool, park or your backyard, it is important to protect your skin from the sun. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that everyone use sunscreen on a daily basis that offers broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays), a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher and is water resistant. Follow our 5 tips to protect your skin this summer and be sunscreen smart!

1. you missed a spot!
People often forget key areas that are
exposed to sunlight. Don’t forget to
apply sunscreen to the back of your
neck, or the tops of ears & feet!
Use enough sunscreen
to fill a shot glass
Adults should apply 1 ounce (or enough
to fill a shot glass) to cover & protect
the exposed areas of your body.

To protect your lips, apply a lip balm
or lipstick that contains sunscreen
with an SPF of 30 or higher.
slather before sun
Don’t wait until you’re already outside
soaking up sun to lather up! Apply
sunscreen 15 minutes before
you go outdoors.

Reapply sunscreen approximately every
two hours, or after swimming or sweating,
according to the directions on the bottle.
