1. Is your website optimized
for mobile?
A calling to restaurants and QSR’s
2. A survey done by the National Restaurant Association in late
2012 took a look at what influence social media sites such as
Facebook, Yelp, and Twitter have on the “dine out” population.
Of the customers polled, an overwhelming 30% said they used
Yelp to help inform their restaurant decision, some of which
polled even posting Yelp reviews themselves. And, 40% said
they visited restaurant fan pages on Facebook before grabbing
a table.
The survey also stated that 80% of casual dining restaurants
polled have Facebook fan pages. A close second is Twitter with
65% of casual dining restaurants using active Twitter accounts.
And, the social media restaurant list goes on from there.
(so hint, hint...stay active here)
3. The restaurant market is pretty
competitive with all the options available.
To be sure, your social media sites are
there to keep the customers informed on
dining deals, menu additions, restaurant
ratings, and everything in between.
6. It’s no secret mobile friendly
websites are crucial. Why?
Smartphone use continues to
soar. A recent study by
Comscore says 57 percent of all
mobile users are smart phone
users (roughly 134 million
people), and the number of
tasks performed they perform
is mind boggling.
7. So why is it that national,
regional, and local brands are
not jumping to optimize?
8. According to a new study by Restaurant
Science, a restaurant industry information
and analytics provider, only one out of
eight full service restaurant chains and a
depressing one out of twenty independent
restaurants have a mobile website. What
makes this even worse is that according to
some reports, half of all visits to restaurant
websites are from mobile devices.
18. Keep these in mind when going mobile...
71% of global mobile web users expect websites to load as quickly, almost as quickly or
faster on their mobile phone compared to the computer they use at home – up from
58% in 2009. However, almost half (46%) said websites load more slowly on their
phone.
Nearly 60% of web users say they expect a website to load on their mobile phone
in 3 seconds or less and 74% are willing to wait 5 seconds or less for a single web
page to load before leaving the site. 50% are only willing to wait 5 seconds or less
for an application to load before exiting.
57% of global mobile web users had a problem accessing a website in the past
year and 47% had a problem accessing an app on their phone.
More than 80% of mobile web users would access websites more often from their phone if
the experience was as fast and reliable.
Mobile users do not have much patience for retrying a website or application that is
not functioning initially — a third will go to a competitor’s site instead.
The majority of mobile web users are only willing to retry a website (78%) or application
(80%) two times or less if it does not work initially.
A bad experience on a mobile website leaves mobile web users much less likely to
return to, or recommend, a particular website. Nearly half of mobile web users are
unlikely to return to a website that they had trouble accessing from their phone and
57% are unlikely to recommend the site.
