shiny objects.
And what’s shinier than a brand-new website?
To celebrate 25 years of public relations with a
conscience—and usher in our next chapter—we
redesigned McKPR.com.
Here’s what we learned from the redesign process.
1. Do Your Homework
Study other websites
and incorporate what
you like.
2. Ask Questions
What’s the purpose of
the redesign?
What are must have
features?
How can we improve
the user experience?
3. Take an Iterative Approach
Tackle the project page
by page.
Provide constant
feedback to developers
during the process to
help refine the site.
4. Don’t Build Everything From Scratch
Using third-party
technology is
commonplace and
doesn’t tie you down
to one developer for
updates.
5. Avoid Unnecessary Complexity
Think about what
features are must
haves and which are
nice to haves that may
require too much
money and time.
6. Think Responsive
Make sure your site
allows for a seamless
experience no matter
the device, whether
that be desktop,
tablet, or phone.
7. It Never Truly Ends
Put your project into
the world and revise as
you go.
Gather real time
feedback to make the
site better.

  • 3. To celebrate 25 years of public relations with a conscience—and usher in our next chapter—we redesigned McKPR.com.
  • 4. Here’s what we learned from the redesign process.
  • 5. 1. Do Your Homework Study other websites and incorporate what you like.
  • 6. 2. Ask Questions What’s the purpose of the redesign? What are must have features? How can we improve the user experience?
  • 7. 3. Take an Iterative Approach Tackle the project page by page. Provide constant feedback to developers during the process to help refine the site.
  • 8. 4. Don’t Build Everything From Scratch Using third-party technology is commonplace and doesn’t tie you down to one developer for updates.
  • 9. 5. Avoid Unnecessary Complexity Think about what features are must haves and which are nice to haves that may require too much money and time.
  • 10. 6. Think Responsive Make sure your site allows for a seamless experience no matter the device, whether that be desktop, tablet, or phone.
  • 11. 7. It Never Truly Ends Put your project into the world and revise as you go. Gather real time feedback to make the site better.
