The text is a list of pages which is the usual convention for a contents page Lure The quote that is on the picture lures the readers in as they have a shocking statement that makes the reader want to turn to page 38 to find out more about this story. House style The house style of this page is used consistently as the trend is red and white with a font that is also consistent. The only change comes when they are talking about the band ‘Oasis’, as the text turns gold to signify that they are more important.
Mode of address In the main heading at the top of the contents page it uses the word ‘you’ to address the audience, this builds a strong reader-writer relationship. Layout The layout is slightly random looking and does not follow the usual codes and conventions that are in a usual magazine, this is because they are usually in a list with page numbers next to them on the left hand side, this breaks that of the usual way that English reading people read from left to right and start on the right, this connotes that the magazine may be rebellious and wants to break the mould. House style The house style is followed in this contents page by having the fade of pink to white in the background. All the headings are in red and the captions after the headings are in black, there is also a constant font that is used.

House style The house style is grey, orange, black and white, these colours are harsh colours and reflect the audience of rebellious 20 year olds that read the magazine. Layout This page has a layout of more pictures than text which makes it appeal to its younger audience of festival going 20 year olds. Lure The word ‘Exclusive!’ next to a certain story makes the reader want to read on and look at the rest of the story on page 34. House style The colours that are used are red black and white, these colours can be associated with danger and rebelliousness, this appeals to the audience that the magazine is targeting.

This makes the readers feel that they can expect what is in the next contents page and be familiar with it when they get it. Main image The main images of these pages are both in black and white, which gives a bored feel but the reds make them more exciting, the expressions on the men's faces make them seem depressed so maybe this may transfer this to the readers.

Lure The words like ‘Plus!’, ‘massive’ and ‘review!’ attract the readers eyes as soon as they turn to this page, they also make them want to read on to the things that they are luring them into e.g. page 33 for the Reading and Leeds review.

There is also more picture than there is text so this gives a more laid back feel to the page and is not as serious as it would be if the page was covered in text.
