The Skin Waves
Main area of activity:
Print/Magazine and Photography.
Rationale:
Throughout the years of being at college I have made many products that vary different
mediums such as music videos, magazines/fanzines, games and apps and my very own
clothing brand and advertising video for my FMP last year. I have learnt how to use new
apps that I did not know how to work before I started York College which are photoshop,
premiere pro, adobe XD and many more. For example, on photoshop where I have edited
and created my own magazine pages, I have learnt skills like colour editing, shadow text
and many more that I included in projects. My similar production was my most recent
project which was the Drum and Bass fanzine I created. I will use the skills I have learnt
from my previous magazines and include them for my FMP magazine as they looked
professional and eye catching, and I would want this impact for my project. am wanting to
make this project as I enjoy the social media aspect side of things and promoting it in different
ways by making my own website. This will be a proud moment for me as I have never done
anything like this before and I would like to pursue this in the future as a career and even just
making one would be a huge achievement for me
Project Concept:
For my FMP, I am planning to make my own skin care brand that I will advertise in many
ways. This will include a 30/40 second product video which will show off all the items I will
have made. I will also be making a magazine for it as another way of advertisement and
even a social media account and website for the brand. My theme is going to be a pale
green colour for the brand. The name of the brand is potentially going to be called Skin
Waves and I might set the scenery to be in a forest to match the green colour of the brand.
On the website it will have pictures of the brand- a little summary of what the product is and
what skin type it is suited to. There will also be a section for people to read under blog and I
will write my journey of creating the brand. I will need to research successful existing
brands and investigate how they made them. For example, one of my inspirations is Kim
Kardashians brand “SKKN” which is her very own skin care brand and I chose her brand as
I love the colour scheme she stuck with and the layout of her brand. She has also inspired
me as she has had both successful and failed businesses but never gave up if one did fail
so that is a big inspiration for me.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
For my project I plan to evaluate my work by doing a production diary every week on how
my journey is going and I can document what is going well throughout and if I have any
struggles while making it or even if I decide to change, what I had planned for the
magazine. This could differ from the theme of my project, the name, or the pages inside.
The final evaluation process I will do is by asking my peers/audience for feedback on how I
could improve my work-this could lead me to doing a draft final piece so that I can make my
final piece even better and more suited to my target audience.

The final evaluation process I will do is by asking my peers/audience for feedback on how I could improve my work-this could lead me to doing a draft final piece so that I can make my final piece even better and more suited to my target audience.
