2. The Social
Issue
● This resonates for me as it should for any
woman in the world today!
● My goal is to become a social/civil rights
lawyer and defend and fight for equality!
● I have experienced sexism in many ways,
one of which includes the wage gap
between men and women in the workplace
● Gender inequality permeates several
aspects of day to day life for all women
regardless of sexual orientation, religion,
race, or social class which makes it a
unique social issue that promotes unity
across different groups of women
Why does this issue
resonate for you?
3. Get Local!
● Talking to friends and family to bring
awareness to gender inequality
● Donating or volunteering for organization
that promote gender equality
● Protesting or joining a rally that promotes
gender equality
How can your interest be
applied locally?
4. Personal
Contributions
● Empowering the women around me through
words of affirmation, appreciation or
acknowledgement!
● Attending law school and becoming a social
rights lawyer
● Interning with the International Rescue
Committee
● I hosted a “Women’s Weekend” this past
summer where a group of friends and
family got together to engage in activities,
exercising and conversations relating to
women’s rights!
I can make the greatest
impact personally by...
5. Social Media
● Groups and Event pages on Facebook
● I am a member of “Pantsuit Nation” and
“Seattle Queer Exchange” on Facebook
● These groups allow women to connect,
mobilize and empower each other by sharing
stories and developing friendships and support
networks!
Is there a feature of
social media that can be
uniquely applies to this
goal?
