Cordillera region is known for its best and unique bamboo musical instruments that are used in celebrating gatherings, festivals, rituals, and ceremonies. The highlights of the life of people in their places are reflected in their music.

Its characteristics contain:
Melismatic – vocal passages which has one syllable sung to in several note passages

The tale of Hudhud is about the heroism of two warriors who later became good friends.
Each musician plays one gong consisting of gangsa tuned to different notes.
Two ways of playing the gangsa: TOPPAYA & PALOOK
musicians play the gangsa with their hand while in a sitting position with a single gangsa resting on the lap of each musician.
the gangsa is suspended from the musician’s left hand and played with a wooden mallet held in musician’s right hand.

The sound is created by the vibration of the thin and flexible tongue in the center of the ulibaw.

Different sounds are produced by changing the shape of mouth.

They are split in half and struck by a wooden stick while rested on the lap
Vocal ensemble is performed during courtship usually in song-debate form accompanied by different instruments such as kuglong, which is a 2-stringed lute and the saluroy (polychordal zither)
SALIDUMMAY – a song from the Cordillera, specifically from the people of Ifugao, Bontoc Province. This is sung in many occasions as the ethnic groups such as weddings, festivals and rituals.
