George mueller

  1. 1.   Müller was born in Kroppenstädt (now Kroppenstedt), a village near Halberstadt in the Kingdom of Prussia.  In 1810, the Müller family moved to nearby Heimersleben, where Müller's father was appointed a collector of taxes. PERSONAL LIFE
  2. 2.   His early life was not marked by righteousness.  a thief  a liar  a gambler  By the age of 10, Müller was stealing government money from his father.  While his mother was dying, he, at fourteen years of age, was playing cards with friends and drinking.  While in seminary at the University of Halle in Germany, Müller described his status as one of.. HIS EARLY LIFE
  3. 3.  “wicked behavior and unrepentant spirit ... Despite my sinful lifestyle and cold heart, God had mercy on me. I was as careless as ever. I had no Bible and had not read any Scripture for years. I seldom went to church; and, out of custom only, I took the Lord’s Supper twice a year. I never heard the gospel preached. Nobody told me that Jesus meant for Christians, by the help of God, to live according to the Holy Scriptures.”
  4. 4.   One evening he was invited to a meeting in a friend’s house.  After seeing a man on his knees praying to God, he was convinced of his need for salvation. He went to his bed, knelt and prayed, and asked God to help him in his life and to bless him wherever he went and to forgive him of his sins.  He immediately stopped drinking, stealing and lying, and developed hope of becoming a missionary, rather than the comfortable clergyman that his father had envisioned for him. He began preaching regularly in nearby churches. What changed him?
  5. 5.  George comes to England hoping to be sent as a missionary to the Jews becomes very ill and thinks he will soon die.  God works again in his life. And looking back on his life George wrote this: “I gave myself fully to the Lord. Honours, pleasures, money, my physical powers, my mental powers, all were laid down at the feet of Jesus, and I became a great lover of the Word of God. I found my all in God, and thus in all my trials of a temporal and spiritual character, it has remained for sixty-six years.”
  6. 6.  ORPHANAGE CARE
  7. 7.   George prayed, asking God to provide a building, people to oversee it, furniture, and money for food and clothing. God answered his prayers. The needs of the orphanage were met each day. Sometimes a wealthy person would send a large amount of money, or a child would give a small amount received as a gift or for doing chores. Many times food, supplies or money came at the last minute, but God always provided without George telling anyone about his needs. He just prayed and waited on God. ORPHANAGE CARE
  8. 8.  More than 10,000 children lived in the orphanage over the years. When each child became old enough to live on his own, George would pray with him and put a Bible in his right hand and a coin in his left. He explained to the young person that if he held onto what was in his right hand, God would always make sure there was something in his left hand as well. ORPHANAGE CARE
  9. 9.  It has been more than 165 years since George Mueller took in his first orphan. His vision continues today as Christians around the world are inspired by his faith to depend on God to meet their needs and the needs of helpless children.
  10. 10. What was the key to his life? Faith – What God has said is true and He will always do what He has said in His Word Prayer – He took everything to God in prayer He asked God to answer according to His promises Bible Reading – He read the complete Bible more than 200 times .
