Benefits of exercise physical and psychological

  1. 1. THE BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
  2. 2. Research "Exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, gain health benefits and have fun. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more. Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you haven't exercised for a long time, have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis, or you have any concerns."
  3. 3. Psychological Benefits The psychological benefits of exercise are often overlooked. Today most people tend to focus on only the physical benefits of exercise and don't seem to think about the great things it does to your mind too. The psychological benefits can be even more significant than the physical benefits depending on your goals. Research shows that doing exercise often gives you a mental and emotional boost, it makes you happier and increases your confidence. Some studies also show it helps the functioning of your brain. “Scientists believe that when exercising, chemicals called endorphins are produced in the brain and released into the body. The word endorphin is abbreviated from the phrase “endogenous morphine” which means morphine produced naturally by the body.” Endorphins are said to help rid stress and pain naturally. You may recognise the term “runner’s high?” A popular opinion is that exercise may create a distraction and provide an “outlet” from stress. Also it is said that muscle tension is reduced after being active which helps with relaxation.
