Pros and Cons to Podcasting( slides 4-6)

How Podcasting is used in a classroom ( slides
 6-9)

iPods can be used for more than just music!
(slides 9-11)

Conclusion (slide 12)
 No major equipment costs
                              Accessible and Adaptable
                              User-Friendly Technology
This website talks about the Pros and Cons to podcasting. The pros are that podcasting
only requires a computer and a microphone. The formats of podcasts can be very
difficult and very easy, just depends how experienced the podcaster is. This can also
drive attention to certain websites and blogs. The other nice thing about podcasting is it
can be almost played on any video or audio technology. These are some great things
about podcasting! If you would like more details on the pros of podcasting click below.

Pros and Cons to
                                Podcasting
                                                Profitability may prove elusive
               Cons- 
                                               
                                                    Uneven production quality
                                                    Long-term costs may increase
                                                Hard to search efficiently
Although there are some good things about podcasting there are also some
downfalls. The first down fall is podcasters don’t get recognized easily, and will
often spend several hours working on free content to the public. The other downfall
is podcasters must meet the expectations of the listeners and if they don’t the
listener will simply find someone else to listen to. The software programs can
increase in costs depending how popular the podcasts are. There is no great way to
look for podcasting, therefore it is hard to be noticed as a podcaster, and can take a
   long time to get listeners.

I was very surprised by some of the pros and cons I
noticed on this website. I am not familiar with
podcasting, so it nice to see positives and negatives that
goes along with podcasting. It would be a nice way for
teachers to incorporate a fun way to learn for their
students. I feel that the cons of podcasting would not
affect teachers, and I will definitely use this in my
classroom when I become a teacher.
* This article is about how teachers all over the
world, have provided iPods or used iPods in their
classrooms. They provide different activities to the
students, that involve using the iPods. One
activity would be using podcasting. One college
professor uses podcasting as a way to prepare
lectures for the students. A teacher states "My
students research better, read more, write better
and understand the material." Another way
podcasting could be used is to enhance the
students’ musical talents. Some teachers even use
this as a way to give students incentives to do well
on their projects, and in return they get to be in
the podcast video they make as a classroom.

This article also focuses on some of the things we cannot
control, and how they are made easier with podcasting.
An elementary teacher has produced a podcast for those
students who are trying to learn English. This is very
helpful to kids, because they can take this home and
work on it on their own time. Parents who are always
busy working, can program their computers with the
podcasts. This will help them keep up with what their
children are doing in school, and any announcements
they may not hear about otherwise. This is also a way
for students to keep memories, and go back and listen to
     their performances.

I don’t know much about podcasting. I have learned so much
just from this website. I really didn’t realize how much
podcasting was used for in education. I feel that podcasting
would be a great way for students to learn and have fun at
the same time. Although this is a wonderful thing to bring
into classrooms, it is also very expensive and would take a lot
of funds from the schools. It would be up to the teachers to
show all the great things that these iPods would do for the
students. I really enjoyed learning ways to incorporate
podcasting into classrooms, and will definitely use this in my
classroom when I become a teacher.
Ridpath said. “ They are a cell phone, iPod, Xbox generation. This is just meeting
 [students] where they are.”

“They’re important in today’s society for getting jobs and for being a good citizen.”

“If technology assists in the learning process and assists the teacher, I am all for
it. If the technology is an attempt by the school system to be cool, then forget
 it.”

“This is what [students are] using at home and have heard a lot about, but
we, the school systems, have not been stepping up.”

“It’s hands-on learning,” she said. “[students are] not just sitting at their desk.”

This article is about what different teachers and parents feel
about students using a new technology at school. Richard Ridpath
thinks it’s a great way for students to learn. He says “ I teacher the
lesson and the iPod supports what I taught the previous day.”
This is a great way for students to review what the teacher has
taught. They may also use iPods as a fun way to put together a
skit, or record their musical talents. iPods are used for so much
more than just listening to music. People can use an iPod to do a
         podcast, and make learning fun!

I really enjoyed reading this article! I am new to
podcasting. Therefore I did not know all the details
about it. I did not realize a student could see a podcast
on their iPods or cell phones. I think this would be a
great way to bring technology into a classroom.
Students are always open to learning in new
ways, rather than just doing paper pencil work. I feel
that teachers should be trained on these technologies
first, before they try to have their students use them.
The schools who got a grant to order iPods for a
classroom are extremely lucky. I agree with the article
and feel that students know what they are use to and
what they are use to is the new
technologies, therefore teachers should find a way to
incorporate it into the lessons and homework.
Podcasting is used for more than just fun, it is used in classrooms and
in many schools to assist the students in learning. Podcasting is a new
generation that encourages students to want to learn and make it
more fun for them! I have learned so much doing this project ! I never
know that podcasting was so popular, and that so many schools were
getting grants to buy new technology to use in classrooms. I have
always thought of iPods something that plays music, when in reality it
can be so helpful to students and teachers. This can also become
beneficial for parents who want to keep track of how their child is
doing in school. When I become a teacher I would love to incorporate
podcasting into my classroom! Students want to do activities while
learning, not just be sitting at a desk doing pencil paper work. This is a
great way to get more students involved!
